Kelty stroll to victory – but lose two-goal hero to injury

Kelty Hearts went second in the Lowland League behind Bonnyrigg Rose after a dominant 5-0 victory over Civil Service Strollers at New Central Park.

Nathan Austin had to be replaced after just 20 minutes through injury but by that time he had already scored twice, on eight and 14 minutes, to put Hearts in control.

Scott Linton scored from the penalty spot just after half-time and then Chris Dodd made it 4-0 on 52 minutes. Stuart Cargill added the fifth with five minutes remaining.

Oakley United boss Stewart Kenny was pleased with his side’s performanc­e as the Fife outfit won 3-1 at Craigroyst­on in Conference A of the East of Scotland League.

John Harrison scored twice with Stuart Love scoring the third.

St Andrews United got back to winning ways, thrashing Ormiston 6-0 at home.

Owen Andrew and Daryl Falconer both scored twice alongside strikes from Paul Quinn and Dylan Honeyman.

Leith Athletic took over at the top of the conference after they beat Haddington Athletic 3-2 away.

In Conference B, Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing 2-1 at home to Dalkeith Thistle. John Francis scored Swifts’ goal.

Game of the day was at Tweedmouth, who scored five goals but lost, going down 6-5 to Edinburgh United.

Glenrothes will travel to Paties Road to take on Edinburgh United in the second round of the Alex Jack Cup after beating Premier League Fife rivals Crossgates Primrose 2-0 at Humbug Park.

Paddy Calderwood and John Martin were the scorers for Glens who have really started life away from the Juniors with confidence.

The game at Newbyres Park between Arniston Rangers and Kinnoull was postponed.
