Champions test for unbeaten Gowfers

-

Carnoustie Panmure are the only unbeaten side in the Super League North and this weekend sees the leaders take on reigning champions Lochee United at Laing Park.

The Gowfers expect to have the same squad available that won at Tayport in midweek although Paul McLellan will face a late fitness test.

The visitors needed a late winner from Scott McComiskie to beat Forfar West End on Wednesday night and manager George Shields will have the same group available.

Jamie McCunnie returned to the Broughty Athletic hot seat in midweek but fell foul of the referee during their game at North End and was sent off, but his side still went on to win the game 2-1.

This weekend The Fed face Tayport at home and McCunnie should have a fully fit squad for the game.

Tayport went down 3-2 to Carnoustie on Wednesday and ended the game with eight men after Jamie Gill, Kris Rollo and Dayle Robertson were all sent off. They miss this weekend’s trip to Broughty Athletic, leaving Chris McPherson with a problem and he may have to bring in a couple of trialists to make up the squad.

North End and Scone Thistle meet at North End Park and both sides have had up-and-down starts to the Super League season and both tasted defeat on Wednesday night, so both managers will be looking at getting back on track.

North End boss Ross Lunan expects to have the same squad as in midweek. Derek Lawson’s Scone will be without Steven Moon, while Craig Mitchell will have a late fitness test.

Forfar West End and Luncarty had different results in midweek, West End losing to a late winner at Lochee while Luncarty thrashed Kirrie Thistle 5-0 at home.

Daryl McKenzie expects to have the same squad available that went down at Thomson Park and Jonny Kelly doesn’t anticipate any additional problems after their comfortable win.

Kirriemuir Thistle boss Darren Scott was bitterly disappointed with his side’s performance in midweek and will make changes to his starting 11 for the visit of Downfield to Westview Park. Scott hopes to welcome back Ross Grant to his squad.

Downfield’s Paul Marr was pleased with his side’s workrate at Scone in midweek and knows that they will again have to work hard to get anything at Kirriemuir.

The Spiders should have a full squad again minus the suspended Dale Davidson.

It was a poor midweek for the local sides in the Super League South with all three tasting defeat.

Thornton lost 3-2 at home to Livingston United on Wednesday and manager Craig Gilbert is beset with problems ahead of the tough trip to Pumpherston.

Hibs are without Iain Hepburn, Ricki Cooper and Adam Drummond through injury while Ian Shanks, Darrel Anthony and Garry Thomson are all working.

Kennoway Star Hearts have just one win from four games as they travel to take on Livingston United, who beat Thornton Hibs in midweek.

Lochore Welfare are still to get a point on the board and this weekend sees them welcome league leaders Fauldhouse United to Central Park.

Montrose Roselea started their North Region Super League campaign with a defeat on Wednesday night, losing 3-1 to Banks o’ Dee.

This weekend sees the first of two home games at Broomfield Park with Banchory St Ternan the visitors.

Roselea are likely to be without Kieran Thomson through injury while Conlan Robertson and Murray Soutar are both on holiday, however Ryan Stewart should return.
