Man loses fight for life following motorbike crash on Fife road

-

A man has sadly lost his fight for life following a motorcycle accident in Glenrothes at the end of last month.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision, which happened around 6.10pm on Wednesday July 31 on the A911 Leslie Road, at its junction with Leslie Mains.

The 67-year-old male motorcycle rider, who was travelling west at the time, sustained serious injuries after his Harley-Davidson was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta car.

The rider was rushed to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where he was given emergency treatment and he had remained under the care of doctors ever since.

However, police confirmed yesterday that the man had died on Saturday morning with relatives by his bedside.

Inquiries have been continuing since the collision took place and road policing officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their investigation to come forward.

Sergeant Stephen Quinn, from the Fife road policing unit, said: “My deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the motorcycle rider at this difficult time.

“We are working to provide them with answers as to the factors that resulted in this collision.

“Any motorists who were on the A911 on the evening of Wednesday July 31 and saw what happened, or who believe they have any relevant dash-cam footage which captured the incident, please contact police immediately.

“Likewise, anyone with any other information that will be of use to this inquiry, please also get in touch.”

The road was shut for some time following the crash on July 31, and it is thought there were no other vehicles involved apart from the Harley-Davidson motorcycle and the Ford Fiesta.

Police confirmed that the dead man’s family do not wish his identity to be released at this time and have asked for privacy.

Anyone with information can contact the road policing unit in Fife on 101 and quote incident number 3267 of July 31.
