-

Lowland League

Kelty Hearts hammered pointless Vale of Leithen 7-0 on Saturday to leave the Borders visitors pointless.

The Fifers raced into a four-goal interval lead through two goals from Nathan Austin, Stephen Husband and Sean McKirdy, Scott Linton made it five with Austin completing his hat-trick and Daniel Ash adding the seventh.

East of Scotland League Premier League

Crossgates Primrose edged out Musselburgh in a tight encounter at Humbug Park.

Both Primrose’s goals came in the first half, James McAteer after 15 minutes and Darren Aitken four minutes later.

Lee Reid was Hill of Beath’s talisman with his 81st-minute equaliser earning them a point away to Blackburn United.

Jeanfield Swifts lost out to Bo’ness in the Premier League – but it would have been a different story had they taken their chances.

Trouble is they didn’t and therefore lost out due to Brian Morgan’s 40th minute goal being the only one of the game.

Dundonald Bluebell staged a commendable comeback after going three goals behind against Penicuik.

Sam Jones put the Cuikie ahead after 12 minutes and further strikes from Sean Stewart and Aaron Ponton appeared to put the issue beyond doubt.

Even the return of Stuart Cargill failed to ignite Bluebell, though they did reply with goals from Ross Drummond and Mikey Ness, but they fell short in the end.

First Division

Kinnoull maintained their 100% record with a 2-0 win away to Heriot-Watt University to leave them a point off Conference A leaders Leith Athletic, who have played a game more.

Gordon Norrie put Noul ahead after 29 minutes, while Shaun Simpson’s last-minute strike sealed victory.

Leaders Leith looked as though they were going to come a cropper at Burntisland Shipyard.

Indeed, they trailed Shippy 5-3 10 minutes into the second half before staging a breathtaking comeback to win 6-5.

Andy Watt and Jason Finlay shot Shippy into a two-goal lead before the visitors drew level. Then a wonder strike from Jonny Galloway saw the Fifers regain the lead.

Leith made it 3-3 after the restart, only for two quick goals from Ross Lennie and Galloway to have seemingly won the game for Shippy. However, the visitors clawed their way back into the game and secured an unlikely victory.

Meanwhile, St Andrews United slumped to a disappointing 4-1 home defeat at Haddington’s hands.

All the visitors’ goals came in the first half, with Ali Simpson scoring twice and Cammy Watson and Ross King also on target.

Jack Blaney’s 77th minute counter for Saints was only a consolation.

First Division Conference B

Glenrothes led twice at home to Tweedmouth Rovers, only to have to come from behind to claim a point after the sides shared six goals at Warout.

Goals from Lea Schiavone and King were quickly cancelled out by the visitors, who then took the lead on 73 minutes.

Conor Schiavone salvaged a point with a goal eight minutes later.

Edinburgh United came from behind to pip visitors Inverkeithing Hillend Swifts at Paties Road.

Gavin Smith gave the Fifers an eighth minute lead, but the hosts hit back to level before the break through Stephen Scott, with James Flynn hitting the winner within a minute of the restart.

SFA South Region Challenge Cup (1st Round)

Oakley exited the SFA South Region Challenge Cup after losing a penalty shoot-out against 10-man Easthouses Lily.

A Stuart Love hat-trick and a strike from Mark Allan counted for the Fifers – who missed two penalties – as the game finished 4-4 after 90 minutes.
