Bollan wants Central Park to be a daunting venue for opponents

-

Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan is looking to strengthen Central Park’s reputation as a daunting League 2 ground.

Brechin City are the visitors today, with Bollan saying: “We said at the start of the season that we wanted our home ground to be known as a venue where there are no easy games for opposing teams.

“We have won two out of two so far after beating Stirling Albion and Annan and that has started to build that reputation.

“The visit of Brechin gives us a chance to make it three from three and make that reputation stronger.

“Todoanythingpositive in this league you have to win your home games and pick up points on the road frequently.

“It would be great to be doing the first part of that consistently – however, it will not be easy against Brechin.

“They will be coming here looking for a win.

“Their interim manager Stevie Campbell is a very good coach who I have known for a long time.

“He will have them wellorganised and dangerous on the break.

“We had a good performance against Annan last weekend after a slow start where we had to weather a storm.

“The players showed good character, which is what we want to be known for, especially at home.”

Jordyn Sheerin left the club this week to take on the manager’s position at East of Scotland side Craigroyston.

Jordan Allan is still sidelined for the Blue Brazil.

Stevie Campbell will be in temporary charge of Brechin for the game and the 51-year-old is determined to make it two wins out of two, following the crucial defeat of Albion Rovers that lifted them off the foot of the League 2 table.

Campbell said: “It’s been quite an emotional past 10 days or so with everything that’s gone on, but we’re all pulling together.

“Personally, I just want the best for Brechin and hopefully whoever the club choose to appoint will be the best for everyone concerned moving forward, including our fans.

“Staying on as number one is something I would obviously consider, but we’ll need to get Saturday out of the way first.

“The lads have been great in training and I can’t ask any more from them.

“It’s never easy when there’s been a change but they’ve rallied around and dug so deep to get the win at Albion Rovers last weekend.

“We’ll definitely need more of the same on Saturday as Gary Bollan’s team are always hard to beat.

“But hopefully we can carry on from where we left off last time out and then we’ll just need to wait and see what happens after that.”
