EASSIE and NEVAY. Members finished the session with a visit to Pitlochry Festival Theatre to see the musical Summer Holiday. The new session starts on Wednesday with a talk by Major Jim McCluskey of the Salvation Army. All welcome.

STAR. Members visited Rosslyn Chapel for their summer outing. The homeward journey included a lovely tea at the Kingswood Hotel, Burntislan­d.

PADANANARA­M.

The opening meeting is on Wednesday in St Margaret’s Church Hall, Forfar, at 7.30pm. Alison Talbot will give a talk on floral art. MADDERTY. The September meeting will be on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the hall. Speaker Janet Rougvie’s subject will be Going To Crufts.

STRATHMART­INE.

The new session starts on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Duncan Street Hall. Old and new members welcome.

CARNBEE. President Sheila Wilson introduced the ladies taking part in a members’ night with craft demonstrat­ions, quizzes and reminiscen­ces. They were M Rae, H Smith, E Rennie, M Mukerjee, J Davis and M Whiteford. Competitio­ns: knitted knee rug – 1 V Johnson, 2 B Wishart,

3 J Davis; flower of the month – B Wishart.

RATTRAY and DISTRICT.

The opening meeting is on Monday September 16 at 7 for 7.15pm in Rattray Hall, Balmoral Road. All visitors and new members very welcome.

GLENISLA. The opening meeting is on Thursday September 12 at 7.30pm in Glenisla Hall. Heather Kelly will be giving a talk on her work with the Mercy Ships.

TEALING. Norma Grant welcomed members and introduced Ian Nimmo White who gave a talk on the Tay Bridge disaster. Competitio­ns: jar of mixed berry jam – 1 Norma Grant, 2 Liz Duncan, 3 Jean Shepherd; favourite brooch – 1 Liz Duncan, 2 Sheila Forbes, 3 Eileen Strang; flower of the month – 1 Jean Shepherd, 2 Liz Duncan, 3 Myrtle Brand.

HILLSIDE. The new session starts on Wednesday in Hillside Hall at 7.30pm. A talk on bio-energy will be given by Gillian Laing. New members welcome.

WESTMUIR. Meetings start again on Thursday when old and new members will be made welcome. Dr Leona Houston of the Sandpiper Trust will be the speaker.
