Fife groups land the jackpot with National Lottery funding grants

-

A number of community projects based in Fife and Kinross are to receive thousands of pounds of National Lottery funding.

Three groups in Fife and one in Kinross have been awarded a share of £952,883 announced for 136 organisations across Scotland through the Awards for All grant scheme.

The largest individual grant in Fife is £10,000 for The Playpen Cafe, which will use the cash to equip a new family play cafe for children in Kincardine.

The group aims to provide a friendly and supportive environment for parental support classes and supervised play at the site of the former Co-op.

Nardones Academy of Performing Arts in Lochgelly is to receive £5,500 towards staging three performances of the musical Legally Blonde at the Lochgelly Theatre in December, with 50 young people set to be involved in all aspects of the production.

And Crossgates Flying Club, a west Fife pigeon racing group, will get £3,700 to replace their old clubhouse with a portable cabin.

The new clubhouse will be available for community use as a meeting room.

Meanwhile, Kinross Netball Club will benefit from £6,800 to set up a walking netball group and create a new way of encouraging children to continue to play netball from primary school through to adulthood.

A National Lottery Awards for All spokesman said: “The 136 groups receiving funding today showcases the range of projects that can be funded through this programme and the difference that the smallest amounts of money can make.”
