Second consultation session to view plans for high school site

-

A second public consultation on plans to develop a former Kirkcaldy school site will take place today.

Edinburgh-based developers Whiteburn Projects hopes to build homes on the former Viewforth High School in Loughborough Road.

Viewforth closed in 2016 when it was replaced by a new school at the Windmill Community Campus and a 2017 fire caused significant damage to its annexe, Eastbank House.

The firm has already held an initial consultation session in August.

Following feedback from that event, this will give the developer the chance to share its latest proposals for the site and gather more views.

The overall vision for the brownfield site will include the conversion of the original C-listed school building and should create around 100 new homes.

Whiteburn has appointed LBA and Fairhurst Engineers to work alongside the company.

The company’s director of design and delivery, Roger Bainbridge, said: “Our first consultation event in August was well attended and we received some helpful feedback from various members of the local community who took the time to share their views and suggestions.

“We’ve been able to take this into consideration as our plans for the development have evolved and our public consultation allows us to update the local community on our latest approach and design for the development.”

The consultation runs from 3.30pm to 7.30pm in the Strathearn Hotel Kirkcaldy.
