Red Devils to focus on youngsters

- ENGLAND

Mason Greenwood will spearhead a young Manchester United side in tonight’s Europa League opener against Astana.

The Old Trafford giants are preparing to kick-off a gruelling Europa League campaign at home to the perennial Kazakhstan champions.

The inclusion of Greenwood, 17, is most eye-catching, having been confirmed as a starter after four substitute appearances this season.

Aacademy graduate Axel Tuanzebe, 21, is also in the line-up against Astana, 28 months since last starting a match for United at Old Trafford.

A knock sees Daniel James join Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw on the sidelines, with Fred coming into midfield and back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero getting the nod ahead of David De Gea.

Meanwhile United have secured Victor Lindelof’s long-term future after agreeing a deal with the Swedish defender until at least 2024. Lindelof joined from Benfica in a £30.75 million deal in 2017.

Wolves hope to use their European campaign to kickstart their Premier League season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side need to start winning, starting with tonight’s opening Europa League Group K game with Braga at Molineux.

Wolves, who lost 5-2 to Chelsea on Saturday, are winless in the top flight this season and sit 19th after five games.

Arsenal begin their third successive Europa League campaign with a tricky trip to last season’s semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night.

The Gunners were beaten finalists last year, slipping to a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.
