Awards recognise excellence in the field of HR
The north-east’s top human resources (HR) teams and professionals are to be recognised at DC Thomson’s annual cHeRries Awards once again.
Now entering its 13th year, the 2020 celebration will be held on June 4 at Aberdeen’s £333 million entertainment venue P&J Live, where 11 awards will be handed out.
The ceremony highlights the work done by the very best individuals in organisations of all sizes and in all sectors within HR, attracting hundreds of professionals year on year.
One of the awards up for grabs is the event’s new Rising Star Award, which is open to individuals currently in the early stages of their HR careers who, over the past 12 months, have “demonstrated a genuine commitment to developing a career within human resource management”.
The Rising Star Award is sponsored by Aberdeen Business School, which develops professional thinkers and innovative contributors through business connected learning, award-winning teaching and internationally recognised impactful research.
Professor Elizabeth Gammie, the head of Aberdeen Business School, said: “These are important awards which recognise the contribution of the human resource function to organisational success.”
Other categories include Excellent HR Manager, Fantastic HR Adviser, Exemplary Employer of Choice, Exceptional Wellbeing in the Workplace and many more.
Last year’s ceremony was hosted by Jason Mohammad, BBC One’s Final Score host, and entertainment was provided by saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski.
John Stewart, director of HR for Perth-based SSE plc, won The Top cHeRry award at the 2019 award ceremony.
Ross MacRae, group deputy managing director and HR director at Orion Group – entertainment sponsors for 2020 – said: “Orion Group is once again honoured to support The cHeRries Awards for 2020.
“This prestigious event is a tremendous opportunity to recognise the talent and dedicated service within the human resources discipline.”
Helen Stuart, HR director for TAQA’s UK business, said: “Year on year the awards are a fantastic celebration of the successes of the individuals and teams that are going above and beyond in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training.”
TAQA are among many other respected firms, including Lindsay & Lang, activepayroll and Mattioli Woods, sponsoring the ceremony.
Entries are now being accepted for the competition, recognising excellence in the fields of HR, training and recruitment in the region.
