Dundee City Council is calling for a major clampdown on the sale of unhealthy foods in cafés and takeaways in a bid to combat Scotland’s soaring obesity rates. The local authority is calling for a ban on “go-large” meal deals from takeaways and on multi-pack deals of unhealthy foods. It also wants restaurants and takeaways to print the calorific contents of meals on menus and for restaurants to offer smaller portions. A spokesman said: “Basically, we are trying to promote healthier lifestyle choices.”
