Interesting day ahead at old stomping ground

I’m back at Dens Park with Arbroath on Saturday and it’ll be an interesting afternoon.

Dundee have picked up the past few games but we’ve improved up as well and our boys will be relishing going to one of the bigger stadiums in the league.

It’s a good crowd and a good team. I’ve been at Dundee twice and enjoy a great relationship with the fans.

I’m in the club’s Hall of Fame and that’s nice but, at the end of the day, my priority at the weekend is our goalkeeper getting a clean sheet and us getting three points.

We’re still trying to establish ourselves in the Championship.

We might only be one point off the top four but mathematically we can still get relegated. We need to fight for our lives.

There has been a lot of talk about our form – from those outside the club – but some people are getting carried away.

We need to focus on what’s important – we’ve got a good, honest bunch of lads who give you their all. They’re willing to get their sleeves rolled up.

It’s all about the players. They’ve put us in the position we’re in.

We can prepare them as much as possible but it’s down to them. The gaffer and Pink always speak before games. But we’re lucky we’ve got good pros at Arbroath.

You’re always going to have off-days but we’ve had more on-days than off recently.

It’s vital we go to another level when it comes to consistency.

Fraser Forster was the hero for Celtic again in Europe against Copenhagen last week.

There wasn’t a lot of hype around his second-half penalty stop but, trust me, that’s an unbelievable save.

It was a good hit and there was real pace on the ball. For a guy that size to get down so quickly, and be so sharp, is incredible.

I’m certain Lenny will be looking to get him tied up on a permanent deal. What a loan signing he’s been.

Fans and pundits always talk about money being the major factor in deals but, for a guy like Fraser, it’s about enjoying football.

He’s had the big move down south, he’s had the highs and lows, he’s been a £10 million goalie.

Going elsewhere doesn’t always work for players. You can see how comfortable Fraser is in that environment at Celtic and he’s reaping the rewards.

His performances since he came back to Celtic have been great. He deserves a lot of great and so does Stevie Woods, who’s also done a lot of great work with Craig Gordon and Scott Bain.

Another goalkeeper who I can’t help but be impressed by is Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.

I was down at Anfield on Monday night to watch Liverpool beat West Ham 3-2 and they needed Alisson to come up with another big moment.

He produced a great save to stop the visitors equalising. There aren’t many better goalies around.

There was a great atmosphere in the stadium and it’s brilliant to see Liverpool playing so well.

They were my English team growing up and my hero was Kenny Dalglish. The other? Everton legend Neville Southall.
