Family’s appeal to trace Forfar man missing in Germany
32-year-old has not been seen since Saturday night after leaving a nightclub alone in Munich
An appeal has been launched to find a man from Forfar who has gone missing in Germany.
Gareth Hicks has not been seen since leaving a nightclub in Munich at the weekend.
The 32-year-old, thought to have recently moved to Germany from Forfar, was with friends in Blitz nightclub on Saturday night but left unexpectedly and has not been seen since.
His last known contact was a photograph posted on Facebook at around 3am on Sunday.
Gareth’s brother, Stuart Hicks, shared photos of his brothers on Facebook.
He said: “Have you seen Gareth Hicks?
“He was last seen in Munich, Germany, in the early hours of February 23.
“The family are very worried and need to know if he is safe.”
Gareth is 6ft 2ins tall and of medium build.
He has short, dark, wavy hair and dark brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a maroon, crew-neck jumper.
The family has also been working with the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). An FCO spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Munich and are in close contact with German authorities searching for him.” An appeal posted by the Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity which helps British nationals in crisis overseas, said: “Gareth had been with friends at Blitz nightclub in Munich, Germany, on the night of February 22 but left, alone, unexpectedly. “The last known contact was a social media post at around 3am on Sunday February 23. “He has not been seen since. “Gareth is considered vulnerable and there are concerns for his welfare.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hicks family on 07494467994.
