Influentia­l post-punk veterans The Monochrome Set check in at Beat Generator tomorrow.

Formed back in 1978, the London outfit’s classic line-up included Indian-born singer Ganesh Seshadri – aka Bid – plus drummer John Haney and ex-Adam And The Ants duo Lester Square and Andy Warren.

The Rough Trade signings initially made waves with their early singles He’s Frank and 405 Lines, recording both their debut album Strange Boutique and sophomore effort Love Zombies in 1980.

After switching to the Cherry Red label, Monochrome Set unleashed their third LP Eligible Bachelors in 1982, with The Lost Weekend opus landing three years later.

Despite earning indie credibilit­y via a string of innovative singles including Jet Set Junta, Jacob’s Ladder and Wallflower, they decided to sign off with 1986’s aptlytitle­d live compilatio­n Fin.

Bid, Square and Warren subsequent­ly regrouped with a new-look Monochrome Set in 1990, spawning five studio albums in as many years. Following a lengthy hiatus the trio reunited again in 2010, with Bid recovering from serious illness to spearhead a further six LPs including Platinum Coils (2012), Cosmonaut (2016) and last year’s Fabula Mendax.

Supporting at Beat G are Edinburgh electro-popsters The Cathode Ray and Dundee noiseniks Stoor.

Electro-folk exponents Blackheart Orchestra’s latest UK tour hits Club 83 tomorrow.

Manchester progsters Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington blend pop and classical influences in a multiinstr­umental soundscape that includes guitars, piano, organ, melodica and vintage synths. In recent years they’ve released a string of boundarypu­shing albums, with last year’s acclaimed Mesmeranto set following on from a stint touring with space rock legends Hawkwind in 2018.

The St Salvador Street venue also has covers outfits Sound Machine and Prohibitio­n plus an aftershow party.

Blues songsmith Danny Bryant’s set to rock it up at Green Hotel on Thursday.

The Englishman’s most recent album in a string of offerings since 2002 was last year’s Means Of Escape, which was mastered at London’s Abbey Road Studios by Grammy winner Sean Magee, known for his work with The Rolling Stones and the late Gary Moore.

Bryant, 39 – who last gigged in Kinross in October – has played festivals alongside Carlos Santana, Mick Taylor and Peter Green. Bookings £21.50 via Ticketweb.

Conroy’s Basement hosts a diverse session tomorrow featuring undergound industrial / hip-hop mash-up Queequeg’s Coffin, incendiary noise-pop rioteers The Twistettes and acoustic lo-fi folkster Opus Fluke.

Gig-goers at the Dundee Women’s Festival special are being asked to take along donations of warm clothing, underwear or toiletries to help Dundee Women’s Aid.

Perth hardcore exponents PMX are on the comeback trail at Conroy’s tonight.
