Dundee Harbour Trustees have approached the Government in order to ascertain their proposal regarding the evacuation of the premises and submarine base occupied by them. Major A. Roger Rowain, deputy chief valuator and chief compensation officer, states that the Government would not require accommodation at the harbour for naval purposes after January 1920. The usual and authorised payments in respect of ships lying in the harbour would apply to Admiralty ships if they were still remaining.

A packed house, applause continually punctuating the programme, and at the close a long ovation with cheers from the scores of children present. That was the reception at the Whitehall Theatre, Dundee, last night for the first two performances by Ballet for All, a team of dancers of the Royal Ballet, London. Dundee has been bereft of a professional ballet visit for so long that the size of the audience and its obvious appreciation demonstrated how keen was public response to something new and different in entertainment.

A man staged an armed robbery at a Chinese takeaway in Montrose last night. The masked raider fled with a three-figure sum of cash from the New Hong Kong, near Montrose Steeple, on the High Street. The man burst into the premises and threatened a woman assistant with what appeared to be a hand gun at about 10.10 Detective Inspector William Niven last night said that officers were anxious to speak to the owners of a small red van seen in the area during the evening.

Thousands of youngsters across Fife are depending on foodbanks as benefits changes force more families below the poverty line. One service, in Kirkcaldy, has given out almost half a million meals in the last four years – a third of them to children. Bosses say the switch to Universal Credit has left them battling to keep pace with demand. The figures emerged as Fife councillors agreed to a £10,000 funding bid from the Kirkcaldy foodbank to allow it to move to larger premises.
