Stop meddling in education

-

Sir, – Just what on Earth is going on in Scottish education?

This week we had a drag artist called Flow Job visit a Paisley primary school and promote LGBQT to very young pupils.

Surely to goodness Flow Job’s name alone should have rung the alarm bells with even the most detached and naive senior education managers.

Worse still, did those responsible not carry out “due diligence” and research this character?

and inclusion and was happy to pose for photos with Flow Job and other “dignitaries.”

Deputy First Minister and education chief John Swinney excelled in understatement when he described the event as “unacceptable”.

As Scotland continues to tumble down the European education league table Mr Swinney allows meddlers like Black to divert young kids away from real classroom learning.

Would it not be better all round to leave parents to decide if and when to chat to their kids about LBGQT issues?

That way teachers and pupils could focus on that which really matters – reading, writing and arithmetic.

Of course, it might never be possible to put the genie back in the bottle and restore our once formidable reputation for education but we might just stop the rot and start to feel proud again that our schools are preparing kids for life by giving them a good grounding in literacy and numeracy.
