It’s curtain up for Angus Classic Interiors
Customers at a long-established interiors store in Angus were in for a surprise recently as two soap stars swapped the Yorkshire Dales for swags and tails!
EMMERDALE duo, Chris Chittell (who plays Eric Pollard in the hit series) and Lesley Dunlop (Brenda Walker), travelled north to Brechin to officially mark the opening of Angus Classic Interiors. Chris gave the store a final sweep before the doors opened while Lesley was in the store’s sewing room trying out the industrial machines! Then the soap stars, who are married in real life, spent the afternoon chatting to customers.
Run by Adrian and Aileen Mottram, Angus Classic Interiors is considered to be one of Scotland’s finest curtain makers and upholsterers and on February 22 it marked the opening of its new showroom at 47 Clerk Street.
It’s been more than 30 years since Adrian and Aileen launched the interiors business and since then the company has stocked an impressive range of fabrics – along with one of the largest selections of sample books in the north east of Scotland – and ensures a fast turnaround on customer orders.
From your first visit to their new showroom, you will benefit from the decades of experience whether you are looking for advice on fabrics and style, or expert measuring and fitting.
Here, you will notice that there are no salespeople, so you never feel under pressure to make a purchase. This is something Adrian was keen to introduce to enhance the customer experience.
He said: “This is company policy – we do not employ sales people. We firmly believe if you need your suite upholstered you should be able to speak with the upholsterer, the same goes for curtains and blinds, so who better to give advice than the very people that will be making your orders.”
At the family-run Angus Interior Classics, Amanda Mottram (Adrian and Aileen’s daughter) is the talented upholsterer with more than 24 years of experience in transforming the look of tired and worn furniture. Also working there is Angela Murray who is almost like family as she has been at the firm since the beginning and looks after the dayto-day production of curtains and blinds.
Both husband-and-wife owners are still very involved in the business. Adrian visits clients in their home to give his expert advice, measure up and fit, while Aileen takes bookings for measuring, fitting, and furniture uplift and delivery.
Adrian added: “We offer a bespoke service for made-tomeasure curtains and blinds that are all handmade in our dedicated sewing rooms.”
