Delight for trio of Fife groups as they share £215k lottery windfall
Three Fife organisations are celebrating a cash windfall after receiving £215,000 to provide befriending projects.
Greener Kirkcaldy, Fife Society for the Blind and Kindred Advocacy are among 29 organisations from across Scotland sharing £3.5 million of National Lottery funding.
The money from the National Lottery Community Fund has been given to groups for projects to improve people’s health.
Kirkcaldy-based Fife Society for the Blind will receive £49,552 to continue its social group and befriending service for those living with sight impairment.
The project aims to make individuals feel less isolated as well as help them connect with people locally who have similar impairments.
Greener Kirkcaldy will receive £76,980 for its community garden project, enabling it to increase its volunteer sessions and community workshops.
Kindred Advocacy, which delivers a support and advocacy service to families and children who have a disability, will receive £89,131 to continue the services for the next three years, benefiting around
180 families of children with complex medical needs or lifelimiting conditions.
Neil Richie, director of the National Lottery Community Fund, said: “All of these projects are fantastic illustrations of National Lottery money reaching into communities and changing lives.
“We can all experience feelings of isolation or loneliness no matter our background, so it’s fitting that the funding is there to benefit everyone.”
