Bollan hopes to avoid more bad fortune at Galabank

-

Cowdenbeath are out to right a wrong when they travel to Galabank this afternoon to face Annan Athletic.

Blue Brazil boss Gary Bollan is still smarting from the 1-0 defeat his side suffered on their last trip to face Peter Murphy’s side and a win this time would go a long way to putting that right.

Bollan said: “I do believe that you make your own luck in football but in all my years going to Galabank with a number of teams it has never been a ground I would class as one where good fortune has shone on me.

“I have won there a few times but most of the time I have come away feeling disappointed.”

“That was the case last November when we should have picked up three points. We were well on top in the first half and created a host of chances however the game was goal-less at halftime. They came out at the start of the second half and got a goal which they doggedly held on to.

“It would be good to win this one and move further away from that experience.

“The only way we will do that is by taking any chances that we create.

“We dropped out of the top four last weekend when we drew with Edinburgh City. We wanted to get back there as soon as possible and we did that by defeating Albion Rovers 2-1 in midweek.

“That was a good win as we came from behind to achieve it.

“Our equaliser came from a set-piece we had been working on and then the winner came from Kris Renton who has been great for us recently.

“Winning this game would not only keep us in the top four but it would open up a 13-point gap on Annan who are still involved in the chase.”

On-loan Hearts defender Chris Hamilton is available again after a twogame ban but Gavin Morrison misses out through injury.

Bottom dogs Brechin City face leaders Cove Rangers today.

The clubs are separated by 45 points in the table and the hosts are yet to lose a league game on their own ground all season
