Wanderers eye bigger lead

-

There’s no shortage of action this weekend with an abundance of national league and Scottish Cup matches scheduled.

After last week’s unexpected blip Dundee Wanderers will relish the opportunity of keeping premiership points at home when they line up against Watsonians this afternoon. A win for Wanderers would open up a four-point gap on their visitors from the capital.

It would also keep them within touching distance of Scotland’s top three – Clydesdale Western, Edinburgh University and Western Wildcats.

At DISC, Grove Menzieshill entertain GHK in what promises to be a sticky encounter. The hosts registered a 3-1 victory in their first meeting of the season but the Glasgow outfit travel east buoyed by sharing the honours with Wanderers a week ago.

Meanwhile Grove are back in action again tomorrow. They face the long haul south to Border Reivers’ stronghold at Tweedbank looking to progress from their Scottish Cup quarter-final clash.

Today’s programme sees a full turnout for local clubs engaged in national league division 2 and all three Championship leagues.

Midland leagues take a short break for the next round of matches in the Knock Out Cup and Plate competitions.

Madras and Perthshire II made it through to the last eight of the District Plate – but with one of them guaranteed to make the semis, there’s disappointment in store for the other after tomorrow’s contest at Kilgraston.
