PERTHSHIRE Agricultural Society will hold the 158th annual Perth Show on the South Inch, Perth on Friday 31st July and Saturday 1st August 2020. Perth Show is a very well attended show from both the agricultural community and towns people from far and wide. Friday is dedicated to judging horses and ponies in-hand and ridden also with working hunter jumping from both horses and ponies. The working hunter classes are qualifiers for Blair Horse Trials. Saturday is the general livestock day with judging of Cattle, Sheep, Heavy Horses, Goats and Donkeys all taking place from early morning. The culmination of this is the Champion of Champions which is held early afternoon. We also run a Pet Competition which brings in many different types of family pets to be judged by the Provost of Perth and the Chairman’s wife. The afternoon entertainment is started with the fantastic Grand Parade of all prize winners. This is a spectacle to be seen and Perth has a parade second to none. The Society intend to use Private Driving as a main ring entertainment. The work involved in producing the horses and carriages takes a tremendous amount of time and effort and they are spectacular to watch. Perth Show successfully attracts a variety of trade stands and we are very lucky to have the support of large machinery stands to small gardening stands and many stands in between giving the public a wide variety of goods to survey and purchase. The Food and Drink Pavilion is a relatively new venture and is run in conjunction with Perthshire on a Plate (POAP). This has proved to be an exceptional addition to the show. The Craft and Lifestyle Marquee offers a tremendous selection of goods the public can purchase. Our friends at SWI have a wonderful selection of baking, jams etc on display and their area of the marquee is certainly worth a visit. The intention for this year is to have various demonstrations throughout the show ground, farrier, harness decoration and sheep shearing. The chairman John Ritchie and his team of directors will put a tremendous amount of work in to make two special days on the show calendar so come along and enjoy them.
