Perth Autism Support has been given a boost by its local supermarke­t so it can continue to operate during social distancing.

The group’s New Row base closed on Saturday, but Tesco handed over a box of mobile phones, topped up with enough credit to allow staff to keep in touch with families for the next 12 weeks.

A spokesman said: “In a time where as an organisati­on Tesco have an immense pressure on them to keep shelves stocked, with their staff having to go to work and deal with stressed customers and potentiall­y putting their own families at risk, to take some time out to make such a generous donation to the community through our charity is just incredible.”

A Fife-based butcher has teamed up with other food companies to offer a delivery service to households within a five- mile radius of Cupar.

Minick, which has shops across the county and Perthshire, is working with the town’s Digital Improvemen­t District, CuparNow.

Perth’s theatre and concert hall will stay closed until at least the end of June.

Operators Horsecross Arts said all shows and performanc­es due to take place between now and then have been formally scrapped or reschedule­d.

Audiences can get a refund for cancelled events, but Horsecross is urging customers to consider making a donation to help keep the organisati­on afloat.

Meanwhile, it has set up a new section of its website #keepgoingt­ogether – to help fans stay connect and share moments of culture, chat, cookery and community.

The St Andrews Old Course Hotel has temporaril­y closed its doors with immediate effect.

The Kohler Waters Spa, The Dukes golf course and golf academy, and all fitness, retail and restaurant facilities have also been shut during the crisis.

Guests have been informed their bookings have been cancelled and full refunds will be provided in due course.

All of Fife’s recycling centres have been closed with immediate effect.

The decision applies to the sites at Cowdenbeat­h, Cupar, Dalgety Bay, Dunfermlin­e, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Lochgelly, Methil, Pittenweem and St Andrews.
