The spirit of the great crowd which thronged the course at Aintree (Liverpool) yesterday was not dampened by the weather, which unfortunately broke down rather badly for the celebration of the Royal Grand National. A Dundee taxi driver yesterday spoke of how he was set upon by two “yobs” and robbed at a city filling station. The 49-year-old Tele Taxis man was hit on the head, punched and kicked during the ordeal at the Texaco garage on Forfar Road. He had just finished a 10-hour shift when he was assaulted in the forecourt at 5am by two youths who tried to throw a brick through the window of his taxi. A lone woman was on duty at the garage but she is always locked inside the premises for her own safety.
