Stark’s Park supporters asked for ‘final push’ in fundraising
Raith Rovers director Andy Mill has urged fans to give their fundraising efforts a “final push.”, writes Ian Roache.
The Kirkcaldy club have been humbled by the response to their crowdfunding scheme, which is now rapidly approaching £45,000.
Stark’s Park board member Mill expressed his gratitude to supporters but asked for them to go the extra mile to take the total to £50,000 and even beyond.
He said: “Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and the resultant loss of income for Raith Rovers FC we have embarked on a fundraising crusade to ensure the club’s survival during this unprecedented crisis.
“We appealed to our supporters on March 18 to donate whatever they could afford, even though many were facing an uncertain future as the virus spread across the globe.
“We set up a crowdfunding page here with an initial target of £25,000.
“I was overwhelmed at the response as soon as this page was launched.
“We very quickly reached £1,000 and donations came flooding in from Raith fans both at home and abroad,” added Mr Mill.
“In addition, we received many donations from supporters of other football clubs.
“Very quickly our total rose and within a few days our £25k target was met.
“Due to the huge volume of donations we reset our target to £50,000 and we are now closing in on that amount. However, we need a final push.
“I have been humbled by the many messages of support by those who have contributed. No matter how large or small the amount, every donation is very gratefully received.”
