Membership rise for Fife business club
St Andrews Business Club reported a third successive year of growth at its annual general meeting, held online for the first time.
Outgoing president Caroline Rochford said the club’s membership was 132 people at the end of April, a year-on-year rise of 10%.
In her report, she talked about the many achievements this season, including the launch of a separate club for university students to nurture future business people, the events held and ending with a healthy financial position.
Marie Paterson was elected the 64th president of the club. Other committee members for the 2020-21 club year are immediate past president Caroline Rochford, treasurer Michael Stephenson, Alasdair Kyle, Jonathan Gibson, Christopher Trotter, Heather Stuart, Kirstin Uhlenbrock and Edward Obi.
After the AGM formalities were concluded, the guest speaker, Andy Lothian, chief executive of Dundee personal development firm Insights, shared his personal story of success.
He said: “There are a few business principles that have guided me over the years. The first of these is to ensure you have a strong and clear purpose. Your purpose will keep you anchored in times of disruption. The second is to develop your self-awareness and the selfawareness of everyone in your organisation – because your people are your organisation’s competitive advantage.”
The club will hold a members’ presentation evening on June 3.
