New season lambs (185) averaged 241p per kg and sold to a top of 282p for a pair of 46kg Texels from Broadshade; and to £140 per head for a 56kg cross also from Broadshade. SQQ averaged 237p per kg.

STIRLING: Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 142 cattle comprising 89 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, and 53 OTMs on Thursday. Prime heifers averaged 225p per kg and sold to a top of 255p on two occasions for Limousins from W Dandie & Son, Learielaw, Broxburn, and D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canobie, and to £1,693 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canobie. Prime bullocks averaged 216p per kg and sold to a top of 245p for a Limousin from A S Hay, Mains of Cultmalund­ie, Tibbermore, and to £1,576 for aC haro la is from J& J Rearie, Riggs, Freuchie.

Bulls (under 30 months) sold to 215p per kg for a Limousin from M Jack, Carriston, Star of Markinch, and to £1,608 from the same home. Those over 16 months averaged 181p or £1,237 per head, while those under 16 months averaged 202p or £1,445. OTMs averaged 145p per kg, selling to 191p for a Limousin from W Dandie & Sons, Learielaw, and to £1,530 for a Limousin from W Dick, Mains of Throsk, Throsk.
