Major the Earl of Airlie MC yesterday unveiled a beautiful mural tablet in St Margaret’s Parish Church, Arbroath, erected in memory of the men of the church who gave their lives in the Great War. He said he knew the unveiling of that memorial recalled sad memories to many of the congregation, but they could not but be happy and proud to know they were honouring, respecting and keeping green their memory of their dear dead. There are 34 names on the tablet. “The Flowers of the Forest” was then played on the pipes.

Previously, all P6 pupils were given about 10 weeks of swimming lessons. Children’s convener Stewart Hunter said the new programme will be introduced after demands from teachers.
