‘Disgusting’ one-legged woman hampered medics at trauma unit

-

A one-legged woman who hampered medics in a major trauma unit and spat at a paramedic has been told to stay out of trouble for four months.

Barbara Cameron had sentence put off in her case yesterday after being branded “disgusting” by a sheriff.

Cameron, 49, carried out the vile attack before lying on the floor to block the entrance to the resuscitation and trauma room.

Sheriff Gregor Murray previously warned Cameron she is likely to be jailed and said: “Both of these offences were disgusting.”

Cameron had rampaged through Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, being aggressive and making sexual gestures and remarks.

She caused fear or alarm by acting in a threatening and abusive manner and laying down on the floor to obstruct access to part of the hospital.

Dundee Sheriff Court was told that Cameron had been using drugs for many years and had one of her legs amputated below the knee.

The court heard that she had been in and out of prison for several years for offences including the abuse of emergency service workers.

Sheriff Murray noted that her three most recent convictions were of a similar nature and she had been jailed for two of them.

Cameron, Ben Walk, Buckhaven, Fife, admitted causing fear or alarm in the hospital’ s A& E department on April 16.

She also admitted assaulting paramedic Calum Deuchar by spitting at him.

Sentence was deferred until November and Cameron was ordered to be of good behaviour.
