Whyte handed Port armband as Suttie seals Gowfers move

Tayport have announced that local lad Greg Whyte will be skipper for the new season following the departure of Ryan Suttie to Carnoustie Panmure.

The Canniepair­t club have agreed new deals with the young trio of Kyle Middleton, Greg Breen and Luke O’Brien, while manager Chris McPherson is looking at bringing in four or five new faces to the club.

Gowfers boss Phil McGuire was delighted with the signing of Suttie and added he is still looking at adding one or two players.

Broughty Athletic announced the return of midfielder John Roberts last week and have also added left-back Ross McDonald from Lochee United.

Darren Scott has re-signed the larger proportion of his squad at Kirrie Thistle and has added Paul Weir from Forfar West End.

Brechin Vics have been busy and after a difficult process have appointed David McLeish as their head coach. He will be assisted by Ross Smith and Jamie Reynolds.

The Victoria Park club have re-signed a number of players, including Cammy Fraser and skipper Morgan Smith.

New boys in McLeish’s squad are Colin Lawson from Arbroath Vics, Liam Jones from Forfar Albion U19s, as well as David Cargill and Jordan Will.

Arbroath Vics boss Eddie Gray has signed goalkeeper Gary Grant from Brechin Vics.

Gray has retained the majority of last season’s squad with Max Reid, Ben Starkey, Matty Keogh, Marc Walker, Ryan Stirton, Craig Tosh, Jack Whitton, Dean Hardie, Struan Christie and Michael Fotheringh­am all agreeing new deals.

Forfar Albion have brought in seven players to Andy Davie’s squad,

Calum Boath, Jamie Graham, Ryan Myles, Cameron Henderson, Ross Prain, Louis Starkey and Kane Allison all join the Guthrie Park outfit along with 11 players retained from last season.

Forfar West End are a club in transition after releasing a number of players, but Aaron Morrison, Dale Riddell and Nathan Fitzpatric­k have all extended their stay at Strathmore Park.

Scone Thistle have had a tough summer with key players departing for pastures new, but club captain Willie Laing will be starting his 10th season at the club and has been granted a testimonia­l.

Blairgowri­e manager Mark Brash has retained his squad from last season – despite interest from elsewhere – and expects to announce his first new signing soon.

Dundee North End have added Jordan Timmons, Ross Jamieson and Calum Petrie and extended the stay of goalkeeper­s Neal Ferrie and Mark Stewart.

Lochee Harp have signed goalkeeper Ryan Mitchell and brought in Jackson Dobbie from Riverside U19s.

Leaving the club is 40-year-old Graham Allen, who has hung up his boots after a successful career in the junior ranks.
