Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 1,256 spring lambs, ewes and tups at their weekly sale on Tuesday.

All classes of lamb followed the national trend being easier on the week, with 588 averaging 207p per kg – back 14p on the week but up 40p on the year.

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms, West Lundie, Argaty, for a 50kg Beltex lamb which made £132 or 265p per kg.

Also forward were 667 cast ewes and rams.

Topping the sale at £126 was a pen of Texels from D L Young, Finmont, Kinglassie.

Export ewes sold to £94 for Cheviots from WA MacKinnon, West Dron, Bridge of Earn, and cast tups sold to £141 for a Bluefaced Leicester from HW Ronald & Son, Gartfairn, Drymen.
