Donaldson one win from Crucible
Perth’s Scott Donaldson needs one more win to book his place at next week’s World Championship following a free-scoring victory over Welsh teenager Jackson Page at the qualifiers in Sheffield.
The world number 23 looked highlymotivated in his first match since coronavirus halted the tour in March as breaks of 80 and 52 gave Donaldson the opening two frames. Page, 18, replied with a century and later overcame Donaldson’s 59 to level at 3-3.
The Scot then rolled in back-to-back half-centuries before dominating frame nine 84-0 to clinch a 6-3 victory.
Donaldson now faces a best-of-19 frames final qualifier today against veteran Anthony Hamilton.
