Scottish sports stars will join forces on Friday as they participate in the Big Sporty Quiz fundraiser.

The charity event, held on Facebook Live, will raise funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), which runs Rachel House in Kinross.

Hosted by David Tanner, sporting names including rugby star Stuart McInally and Dundee-born athlete Liz McColgan will participate in the virtual fundraiser.

Edinburgh rugby captain McInally said: “Families who use CHAS are facing extremely difficult times throughout this terrible pandemic.

“With many children needing to shield from others it can be isolating and scary for them and their families.”

He added: “We need to stand as one with CHAS and help them continue providing these moments of joy, even when the families can’t all be together.”

Other sporting personalities joining the quiz include Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley, footballer Lizzie Arnot and rugby player Jonny Gray.

Alongside the quiz will be a raffle and an online auction for items such as a signed Scotland rugby shirt and a top signed by both Chris Hoy and Adam Peaty. Those interested in taking part in the quiz can sign up on the Big Sporty Quiz Facebook event page.

CHAS community fundraiser and quiz organiser Emma Moore said: “We are so grateful to all the amazing stars such as Stuart who are giving up their time so generously to support our Big Sporty Quiz and to our event host, David Tanner, who has more than 30 years of experience in broadcasting.

“We hope as many people join us as possible on the night.”
