Garden to undergo big changes
Volunteer Katie Dessain helps with planting for the new garden created by horticulturist and designer Nigel Dunnett in response to the 800-year garden history of the site at Hospitalfield in Arbroath.
The garden of more than 7,000 plants will open in April 2021 alongside the newly restored fernery and glass house cafe designed by Stirling Prize-winning architects Caruso St John Architects.
Hospitalfield is a resource for contemporary artists and local and international audiences.
A place to work, study, learn, visit and enjoy, it will undergo a visionary new £11 million redevelopment from 2021, which will see a restoration of the 19th Century Arts and Craft House, studios and new buildings.
