Broughty Ferry esplanade to open to vehicles next month

-

Months of traffic restrictions in Broughty Ferry will come to an end in October.

The esplanade has been closed since June 15 to encourage cycling and walking. But Dundee City Council bosses say dark nights and dropping temperatures have prompted them to open the road to vehicles from October 26. A 20mph speed limit was introduced as part of the Spaces for People social distancing programme.

The council’s Mark Flynn said: “We were pleased to see higher levels of pedestrian and cycling activity during the summer. However as the temperature drops and the hours of daylight reduce it is less likely cyclists will be coaxed on to their bikes.”
