Raith tough test for East Fife, says Young

-

East Fife manager Darren Young is determined to see his side win a second successive Fife derby when they face Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park.

The Methil side beat Cowdenbeath 2-0 in Betfred Cup action during the week and are keen to build on that with v ictory over the ir Championship hosts.

Young said: “T here cannot have been too many occasions where the club has started their season with back to back derby matches and there can never have been a season where they have opened up with two derbies and no fans.”

“Despite the strange atmosphere in midweek it was still a very competitive game.

“We started well but fell out of things for a period before half-time and Cowdenbeath had the better of things.

“We sorted that at the break and came out strongly and scored the two goals that won the game.”

“We now move on to another keenly contested tie at Raith and I am looking forward to it.

“It will be good to test ourselves against the level of opponent.”

Young added: “T he games with Raith during the past three years have usually been exciting affairs with a few goals

“I remember winning a game that brought East Fife their first success in 30 years over Raith and ever yone at the club being over the moon.”

“That type of record is not available for this one but it is still a game that would be good to win.”

“I watched their preseason friendly against Brechin. They won that day playing a 4- 2- 3 -1 formation that allowed them to be really strong when they moved forward.”

The Methil side have doubts over Aaron Dunsmore , Stewart Mu r d o c h and D a n ny Swanson with new boy Aidan McLaughlin added to the squad.
