Local heroes up for award

- CRAIG SMITH

Apandemic means the 2020 Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards will be a little different this year, but that will not stop Fifers from celebrating the phenomenal achievements of inspirational people.

Over the next fortnight, Kingdom FM and T he Courier as media partners will be celebrating the great and the good across the region and lauding those who have made people’s lives a little easier during lockdown.

Normally, the awards are handed out during a ceremony on one night, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, that will not be possible this year.

However, Kingdom FM has been inundated with stories of people doing their own things to help others in many different ways, and nominations in 19 different categories have been whittled down to just three finalists in each.

All of the finalists will be featured on air and in The Courier throughout this week, and the winners will be revealed the week commencing October 26.

Barry Snedden, Kingdom FM sales manager, said: “Nobody could ever have imag ined the unprecedented times we’re now living in.

“People say the worst times bring out the best of of people and that’s something as a station we’ve been hearing a lot about over lockdown.

“I can’t wait to hear more about those Fifers and the things they’ve achieved in the most challenging of times.”

V iv ian C la rkson , Kingdom FM ’s event co-ordinator, said: “This year ’s awa r d s will be memorable for many different reasons.
