On-loan striker loving life in scenic Scotland
Lars Lokotsch has already fallen in love with Scotland after a road trip to visit Ben Nevis.
Now the towering striker wants to help Raith Rovers hit the heights in the Championship.
The 24- year-old has joined the Fifers on loan until the middle of January after finding first- team football hard to come by at Livingston.
Lokotsch made just five appearances following his summer move to West Lothian – with his only starts coming against Ross County and Hamilton – and it is hoped that a stint with high-flying Raith will help him find his feet.
He said: “In the last games for Livingston I have not been playing.
“I was told about the possibility to go to Raith Rovers and get the chance to develop. I would like to prove myself in Scotland and I think this is a great opportunity.
“This loan move feels like a win-win situation because I will help the club, too – I think I can bring things for Raith to look forward to.”
Despite scarce opportunities to prove himself, Lokotsch has no regrets about swapping life in the German lower leagues for an adventure in Scotland – and has embraced every aspect of his new surroundings.
He smiled: “I have already visited the Highlands and Glen Nevis. I have been to Edinburgh, Glasgow and a few castles. I love it.”
Lokotsch has also been impressed with Rovers after doing his due diligence.
He said: “I watched Raith’s last two games and I have seen an ambitious club with an ambitious young team. They are trying to play very good football – I like it a lot.”
Dunfermline are to seek a second opinion on the calf injury that has sidelined Lewis Martin since the summer.
T he former Scotland U19 internationalist played 33 times last season to take his appearances for the Fifers over the 150 mark.
