STIRLING – United Auctions sold 905 suckled calves and 2,749 store lambs. Bullocks (538) averaged 257.99p and sold to 304.60p per kg for a 196kg Limousin cross from Doldy Farms, and to £1,060 for a 490kg Charolais cross from Shanry Farms.

Heifers (367) averaged 251.26p and sold to 855.30p per kg and £2,600 for a 304kg Limousin cross from Cloquhat Farms.

Store lamb averages: Texel cross - £74.76 (-£0.67p on the week); Beltex cross - £80.03 (-£1.57p); Suffolk cross - £74.44 (-£0.89p); Cheviot - £61.50 (-£3.71p); Mule - £65.23 (-£8.05p); Blackface - £57.82 (-£0.25p).

THAINSTONE –

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 1,907 store and breeding sheep. Store lambs (525) averaged £58.12 and sold to £82.50 for a pen of Texels from Belniden, Strathdon.

Island lambs (1,214) averaged £62.29 and sold to £88 for a pen of Beltex from Strathore, Shapinsay.

Island ewes (39) sold to £100 for a Texel from Ervadale, Rousay.

Breeding sheep (129) sold to £180 for a pen of Pure Texel gimmers from Kennachy, Forss.

DINGWALL – Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd sold 19 prime cattle and 289 prime sheep.

Prime bullocks (7) averaged 208.6p and sold to 213.0p per kg for a 635kg Whitebred Shorthorn cross, and £1,388.60 gross for a 655kg Simmental cross both from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall. Prime heifers (12) averaged 220.8p (+6.2p) and sold to 237.0p per kg and £1,386.45 gross for a 585kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm. New season lambs (154) averaged 195.0p (+13.0p) and sold to a top of 209.1p per kg for a pen of 44kg Texel crosses from Easter Hardmuir and £98 for a pen of 49.5kg Texel crosses from Balintore Farms, Fearn. SQQ 36.5kg to 45.5kg (92) averaged 201.1p (+16.0p) per kg. Feeding sheep (135) sold to a top of £87 for a Texel ewe from No 4 Pitcalnie Holdings, Nigg.

Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 2,024 prime lambs, ewes and tups.

Prime lambs (1,386) averaged 209p (+20.35p on the week) and sold to 258p per kg for a pair of Beltex from Braco Castle, Auchterard­er, and £116 for 45kg Beltex from Braco Castle and for Beltex from Doune Farms, West Lundie, Argaty.

SQQ lambs (704) averaged 213p per kg (+20.6p).

Cast ewes and rams (638) sold with heavy ewes averaging £96.46 and selling to £145 for Texels from Tom Mitchell, East Gormyre, Torphichen; export ewes averaging £66.02 and selling to £73 for Cheviots from Ian Reid, Isle Cottage, Methven; and cast rams averaging £90.13 and selling to £114 for Tex from J R MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie.

FORFAR –

Lawrie and Symington sold 25 prime cattle, 11 OTMs and 871 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams. Bullocks (5) averaged 229p and sold to 238p per kg for a 623kg Limousin from Nethermyre­s, and to £1,532.70 for a 655kg Limousin from the same home.

Heifers (19) averaged 232p and sold to 260p per kg and £,1596.40 for a 614kg British Blue from West Bog. Young bulls (1) sold to 205p and £1,525.20 for a 744kg Simmental from Whitehall. New season lambs (701) averaged 202p (+4p) and sold to a top of 240p per kg for a pen of 45kg Beltex from Scobshaugh, and to £112 for a pen of 50kg Texels from Leoch. SQQ lambs averaged 207p per kg (+8p).

Ewes (170) averaged £71.

HUNTLY – United Auctions sold 2,140 prime sheep. New season lambs (1,406) averaged 196.54p per kg selling to a top of 209p per kg for 44kg Texels from Rinnagaill­och, Strathdon, and 44.8kg Beltex crosses from Kinnermit, Turriff and to £109 for 56kg Charollais from Laighmuir, Wardhouse. Ewes sold to £160 for Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly.
