Kirkton CCTV footage investigated after reports of dangerous driving

Police are sifting CCTV footage in a bid to identify drivers of several motorcycles and quad bikes being driven dangerously in Dundee’s Kirkton area on Monday.

Footage posted on social media showed scooters, dirt bikes and quad bikes being driven dangerously in the city neighbourhood.

Some of the vehicles appeared to have been ridden by people wearing distinctive green hoodies.

Videos shared publicly showed vehicles being driven on pavements and grassy areas on Keswick Terrace, and many performing “wheelies” on the main road.

Officers are now scanning through security footage to try to identify drivers after multiple calls from concerned residents.

Clips on messaging app Snapchat showed many bikes had taken part in a loud motorcade through the estate, following the coffin of Grant Hutchison, whose funeral was held that day. The motorcade was watched from the pavement by dozens of local residents, with many also donning green hoodies which had “# GH1” printed on to them.

Just over two weeks ago, mourners were lambasted after a large group grieving the 28-year-old dad-of-three’s death let off fireworks in the direction of police.

A spokesperson said: “On Monday November 16, police received various reports of dangerous and unsafe driving of quad bikes, motorbikes and motocross bikes in the Kirkton area.

“An investigation is now under way and officers are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved.”
