Vision for 1,000 new jobs at Specsavers

-

Optician chain Specsavers is planning to hire 1,000 people in the next few months as it prepares for an onslaught of around five million people who have missed out on eye tests and hearing checks during the pandemic.

The firm said it will add 200 new consulting rooms to its opticians, and open 40 new stores in the next 18 months.

At least 75 stores will be upgraded, while 30 are set to relocate or expand.

UK managing director Paul Marshall said the company “will be looking to recruit hundreds more opticians and audiologists in the coming months, as well as other support team colleagues, from contact lens fitters to lab technicians to optical assistants, hearing aid dispensers and retail apprentices”.
