New season lambs SQQ up to 45.5kg averaged 205.2p (+4p) per kg. Feeding ewes and rams (748) sold to £150 for Texels from Oldtown.

“A larger show of lambs sold dearer on the week with export weight lambs once again meeting the strongest demand. All classes of feeding ewes and rams were sharper showing a £8-£10 per head increase.” Leading prices:

Prime heifers (20) averaged 211.9p (-5.4p) and sold to 235p per kg 550kg Limousin cross from Whiteside, and £1,540.70 for a 710kg Limousin cross from Waterside, Forbes.

Young bulls (one) sold to 183p per kg and £1,171.20 for a 640kg Charolais from Ernan, Waterside.

30 to 48 months old:Bullocks (two) averaged 156.6p (+30.2p) and sold to 195p per kg and £1,404 for a 720kg Charolais cross from Milton of Inkhorn, Auchnagatt. Heifers (4) averaged 163.5p (-6.4p) and sold to 174p per kg for a 545kg Simental cross from Hilliclay Mains, Thurso, and £1,054 for a 680kg Simental cross from Hunchaquoy, Swannay.

STIRLING – Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 192 cattle comprising 81 bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 103 OTM and feeding cattle as well as 12 young calves.

Prime heifers averaged 235p and sold to 262p per kg for a Limousin from W Dandie & Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn, and to £1,670 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canonbie.

Prime bullocks averaged 211p and sold to 260ppkg for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, and to £1,520 for a Limousin from A A & J Brand, Nethermyre­s, Auchtermuc­hty.

Young bulls sold to 200p per kg for an Aberdeen-Angus cross from W J Ramsay, Inshanks, Drummore, and to £1,415 for a Limousin from J R MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie.

OTMs averaged 117p selling to 169p per kg for a Limousin from W Dick & Sons, Mains of Throsk, Throsk, and to £1,290 for a Limousin from R Graham, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan.

Cast males sold to £1,360 for a Limousin from A M Duncan, Easter Dullatur, and to 147p per kg for a Friesian from W & M Wylie, Broompark, Torphichen.
