Easton grabs winner as Kelty edge closer to top of Lowland League

Ke l t y He a r t s had a difficult afternoon at Gala Fair ydean Rovers on Saturday but it ended in a win, three points and second place in the Lowland League table.

After overcoming early injury setbacks for Michael Tidser and Jamie Stevenson, Dougie Hill headed home a Dylan Easton free- kick on 11 minutes. Gala equalised on 35 minutes through former Kelty man Scott Taylor- MacKenzie but what proved to be the winner came less then two minutes later as Easton slotted the ball under the keeper.

In the Central Taxis East of Scotland League Premier Division, 10- man Dundonald left it late to take all three points from their trip to Blackburn United with the winner coming in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Calum Strang put Bluebell ahead but the home side were level early in the second half.

It looked like Kevin Fo t h e r i n g h a m’s side would need to settle for a po int when Lew is McKenzie was sent off on 70 minutes, but Kieran Dall popped up with the winner on 94 minutes.

Hill of Beath appear to have addressed their slip in form as they won 2-0 at home to Whitehill Welfare. Ryan Connelly put the Haws 1-0 in front and Joe Kinninmont­h added a second to secure the three points.

A Grant Thomson goal with eight minutes left gave Dunbar United the points from their visit to Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts

Crossgates Primrose were well beaten by Camelon at Humbug Park and ended the game with 10 men when Garry Leighton was sent off.

Connor McMullan and Ma r k Stowe put the visitors 2- 0 up before Scott Lawrie pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the second half.

Stowe hit his second on 52 minutes and when Leighton was ordered off on 67 minutes there was no way back for the Fife side and Alan scored a fourth for the visitors.

In First Di v i s i o n Conference A, Thornton Hibs were 6-2 winners at Craigroyst­on and history was made with all the goals coming from the two Garry Thomsons.

Thomson Jr opened the scoring on 15 minutes before his namesake added a second a minute later. Junior then made it 3-0 on 18 minutes before Thomson made it 4-0,five minutes before the break.

Thomson Jr completed his hat-trick after halft ime be fo re h i s counterpar­t completed his own treble. Hibs took their foot off the gas after that and Craigroyst­on pulled two goals back.

Kennoway Star hearts lost 2-0 at home to leaders Haddington at Treaton Park and Rosyth were beaten 2-1 at home by Leith Athletic after Tam Hampson had put the home side in front in the first half.

Kirkcaldy & Dysart won their first league game of the season, beating Dalkeith Thistle 2-1 at home. Goalscorer­s were Ricki Cooper and Morgan Miller.

St Andrews United’s game at Arniston Rangers was postponed

In Conference B , Luncar ty maintained their 100% record with a 2-0 win at Stirling University. Keith Dewar opened the scoring and James Yates made things safe with a second goal early in the second 45.

Oakley United had to se ttle for a point at Preston Athletic after taking the lead through Craig Martin in the first half only for the home side to equalise with 15 minutes to go.

Kinnoull came from behind to beat Lochgelly Albert 5-1 at Tulloch Park and go fifth in the Conference B table. Sami Mitchell put the visitors ahead but Pat Brown equalised and then put Kinnoull in front before half- time. Dale Smart scored twice before Alan Cunningham added a fifth.

Glenrothes continue to struggle and lost 3-1 at home to Peebles Rovers, with C harlie Denton scoring for the Fife side.

Burntislan­d Shipyard enjoyed a comfortabl­e 6-0 win at Eyemouth. Ben Anthony scored a hattrick and Reece Brown, Nathan Laird and Jordan Galloway also found the net.
