Cowdenbeath recruit one-time Gers player

-

Cowdenbeath have added one-time Rangers youngster Ryan Finnie to their squad on loan from Lowland League side Berwick Rangers.

Finnie started at Hamilton Accies in 2011 and had a loan spell at Dumbarton before stints at Rangers, Partick Thistle, Annan, Alloa, Clyde and Edinburgh City.

Blue Brazil boss Gary Bollan said: “Ryan will be with us for the rest of the season and I am delighted with that. He has plenty of experience but the big thing for me is that he can play in a number of positions. With the amount of football we are to play in a short period of time we will need players who can be versatile.”

Montrose boss Stewart Petrie has secured the services of his entire coaching and backroom staff until at least the summer of 2022.

Sean Dillon, Iain Campbell and Tony Bullock will continue in their roles as first team coach, coach and goalkeeping coach.

Behind the scenes, physios Gemma Collier, Scott Shepherd and sports scientist Stuart MacFarlane have also all agreed contract extensions, keeping the whole team together for the foreseeable future.

A delighted Petrie said: “We have been very fortunate to enjoy a lot of success since Ross (Campbell, assistant manager) and I took over four years ago.

“However, this would simply not have been possible without the immense support we have had from our coaching and backroom teams.

“Ross and I are delighted that the whole team is staying together.”

Ross County boss John Hughes jokingly teased Hibernian counterpart Jack Ross by saying he will know the Hibs starting XI in advance of tomorrow’s meeting in Dingwall.

The Staggies manager was brought up in Leith and has played for and also managed Hibs.

Hughes reminded Easter Road manager Ross that he has previously tapped into local connections.

He said: “I have played there, I am local boy, I know everything about the club, inside-out.

“I will know Jack’s team by the time the game comes and the reason I am laughing is that when Jack played for me at Falkirk every time we played Hibs I had their team on a Friday spot-on because of the connections. So throw that in, that will bring a smile to Jack’s face.

“We are short of one. I don’t know if it will be Christian Doidge or Kevin Nisbet as centre-forward. He might try to mix his shape up a bit.

“I am only having a laugh here, I don’t try to second guess. It is all about what my team do.”

Hughes’ side are 10th in the table with 29 points, three ahead of Hamilton and four ahead of bottom side Kilmarnock with a game in hand over the struggling Ayrshire outfit.

By contrast, Hibs are third, three points ahead of Aberdeen with a game in hand over the Dons.

But they will travel to the Highlands on the back of two defeats.

Hughes said: “They have that objective of trying to get that third spot in the league so they will be hurting, they will be dangerous.”
