The Widdow Maker can follow up

- KEITH HAMER

THE WIDDOW MAKER can build on his recent course and distance victory when he lines up for the London Racing Club – ‘All Are Welcome’ Handicap Hurdle at Taunton.

Colin Tizzard’s lightlyraced seven-year-old claimed his first success at the fourth time of asking over hurdles when winning in a hack canter after running his rivals ragged at the Somerset venue three weeks ago.

He was sent off 13-8 favourite that day, after giving a big hint he was close to scoring when third at Wincanton in January.

The Widdow Maker was a massive price for his first two races over obstacles, but he has shown he is going the right way and looks a good bet to follow up.

DANNY WHIZZBANG may never reach the heights that once looked likely, but he faces his easiest task for a in the William Lengthen Your Handicap Chase.

Rated 147 when a distant third to Copperhead in the Grade Two Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase last season, that race in desperate ground has perhaps taken a toll. while Hill Odds

A beaten favourite in the Badger Beer Trophy on his reappearance, he was then pulled up in the Ladbrokes Trophy.

He was seemingly bogged down in heavy ground last time out at Sandown, but on a slightly better surface and down in grade, he has no excuses.

Antoine Rozner holed a remarkable 60-foot putt on the 72nd hole as he made a closing birdie to win golf’s Qatar Masters in dramatic fashion.

The Frenchman entered the final day in Doha three shots off the lead but dragged himself into contention alongside Italian Guido Migliozzi, who came from even further back to set the clubhouse target at seven under after a 65.

Rozner was in a tie for the lead with Migliozzi stood on the 18th tee and was facing a tricky twoputt to guarantee a playoff after leaving his approach into the last well short.

But the 28-year-old saw his first effort first break right and then left as it came over the ridge and found the bottom of the cup, handing him a closing 67 and a winning score of eight under.

India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar and South African Darren Fichardt finished alongside Migliozzi at seven under, two shots clear of Wales’ Jamie Donaldson and England’s Richard McEvoy.

Grant Forrest finished top Scot in tied 19th position on level par after a closing round of 70, with David Drysdale, last year’s runner-up, one shot back in tied 28th.

Aberdeen’s David Law, the first-round leader after a 64, finished tied 35th after a 72. Richie Ramsay carded a final round of 70 to finish tied 58th on six over with Drumoig’s Connor Syme a shot further back after a 75.
