Heifers averaged 238p selling to 285p per kg again for Charolais from New Peninver and to £1,490 from Hume of Overton, Denny.

Black and white bullocks averaged 191p selling to 200p per kg from J W K Paterson & Son, Low Three Mark, Stranraer, and to £990 from the same home. Shorthorn bullocks sold to 287p per kg from Ross Purdon, Easterton, Caldercruix and to £1,360 (twice) from W Mitchell & Sons, Mid Craigton, Newton Mearns and W Taylor & Son, Jawpark, Slamannan. Aberdeen-Angus bullocks sold to 318p per kg from Nick North, Boquhan House, Balfron and to £1,190 from McLaren, Cairney, Whitburn. Hereford bullocks sold to 234p per kg from Marshall Sibbald, Cowden, Dollar and Avoncrook Farmers, Westfield and to £1,160 from Cowden. Shorthorn heifers sold to 253p per kg from Ross Purdon, Easterton, and to £1,110 from N Bowser, Argaty, Doune. Aberdeen-Angus heifers sold to 265p per kg from Nick North, Boquhan House and to £1,310 from Craigkelly Farm, Kirkcaldy.

Hereford heifers sold to 261p per kg D McHarg & Son Ltd, Kirklands, Stranraer and to £1,070 from Cowden. THAINSTONE – Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 50 head of adult breeding cattle. Cow with bull calf (5) sold to £2,250 for a Simmental cross from Leyton, Aboyne.

Heifer with bull calf (4) sold to £2,350 for a British Blue cross from Fairburn, Longmanhill. Heifer with heifer calf (11) sold to £2,350 (twice) for a LimX and a ShortX from Fairburn. In-calf heifers (16) sold to £2,050 for a Simmental cross from Broadsea, Burnhervie. In-calf cows (1) sold to £1,320 for a Simmental cross from Keiss Mains, Wick.

Breeding bulls (2) sold to 3,350gn for a Limousin from Broadsea.

THAINSTONE – Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 803 ewes with lambs at foot, breeding ewes and store lambs includ ing island consignments. Ewes with lambs at foot (23) averaged £74.73 and sold to £78 for Texel cross 2/3 crop with lamb and half from Logie Durno Farm, Pitcaple. Breeding ewes (68) averaged £75.03 and sold to £84 for Continentals from Mid Gask, Longhaven.

Store lambs (712) averaged £85.81 and sold to £140 for Beltex from Little Muddie, Inverurie.

DINGWALL – Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd sold 14 prime cattle and 858 prime sheep.

Prime bullocks (3) averaged 236.2p (+16.2p) and sold to 239.0p per kg for a 585kg Bazadaise cross from Easter Hardmuir, Nairn, and £1,549.45 for a 665kg Limousin cross from Ashley, North Kessock.

Prime heifers (11) averaged 239.8p (+14.3p) and sold to 249.0p per kg twice for a 570kg LimX from Kinchyle Farm, Scaniport, and for a 565kg LimX also from Kinchyle Farm, and £1,516.20 for a 665kg CharX from Easter Sheep Park, Balblair.

Old season lambs (777) averaged 288.5p (+2.7p) and sold to 302.0p per kg and £139 for a pen of 46kg TexX from 5c Balnabeen, Conon Bridge. SQQ 36.5kg to 45.5kg (711) averaged 290.0p (+2.1p) per kg. Feeding sheep (81) sold to £116 twice for Mules both from Balnabual, Dalcross.
