For those of you who do have a big move coming soon, you’re not alone in managing what is often described as one of life’s most stressful experiences.

But it will be worth all the effort once you’re settled in your new place!

Plus, there are a few things you can do to help ease some of the pressure as you make the big move.

1. Work to a confirmed moving date

Confirming a date for moving out of your old place and into your new home is an essential first step. This may involve giving notice to a landlord or potentially considering short term accommodation if you’re waiting on a new-build, for example.

2. Figure out your removal plan

Are you going to move on your own, hire a van or rope in some friends to help? Perhaps you can temporarily store some belongings in a generous parent’s garage so you can start packing early? Alternatively, you might have the budget to hire a professional removals company.

3. Take care of essential admin

Dedicate a bit of time to admin, so you can update essential information, including:

4. Update details for subscriptions

Monthly fresh food kits, beauty box subscriptions, beer or gin clubs – take stock of all the other subscriptions that are home delivered and update your details.

5. Set up mail redirect

Make sure you don’t miss anything important and that your personal information doesn’t accidentally fall into the wrong hands by setting up a personal mail redirect. You can do this online with Royal Mail for a small cost.
