Cowden boss hopeful of getting players back

-

Cowdenbeath welcome Annan to Central Park today and manager Gary Bollan admits it was torture having to manage from his living room.

The manager was one of several members of the Blue Brazil’s staff forced into isolation after a Covid outbreak and watched his side’s 1-1 draw away to Stenhousemuir on his TV.

Bollan said: “I have to say it wasn’t a particularly comfortable experience, but I kept in constant contact with Iain Flaherty and David McGurn who were taking the team.

“We hadn’t had any training at all, so it was just a case of being able to get a team together to put them out on the park.

“All we could really do was manage the circumstances as best we could, but hopefully we can get everyone back together and regroup again.

“We were obviously much under strength so, under the circumstances, we were happy with the point.

“It seemed like a pretty reasonable performance but you always want to win games, no matter the circumstances.”

Bollan added: “We are looking forward to getting back into it against Annan.

“They are always a hard team to play against, home or away, because Peter (Murphy) has them well organised down there and will no doubt have a game plan that they will stick to.”

Bollan is hopeful of having most of his squad out of isolation, but midfielder Gavin Morrison is out with a groin issue while defender Ross Clarke serves a one-match ban following his dismissal in the Stenny draw last weekend.

League leaders Kelty Hearts will aim to consolidate their place at the top of League Two – they have 10 points from four games – when they travel to face Stenhousemuir.
