THAINSTONE – Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 144 head of adult breeding cattle.

Cow with bull calf (41) averaged £2,059.07 and sold to £2,950 for a Limousin cross cow with Limousin cross bull calf from Waterside, Forbes. Cow with heifer calf (33) averaged £1,858.82 and sold to £2,450 for a British Blue cross cows with Limousin cross heifer calf from Waterside.

Heifer with bull calf (4) averaged £1,707.50 and sold to £1,800 for a Limousin cross heifer with Limousin bull calf from Newbigging, Tornaveen.

Heifer with heifer calf (4) averaged £1,787.50 and sold to £2,100 for a Limousin cross heifer with Limousin heifer calf from Newbigging. In-calf heifer (10) averaged £1,634 and sold to £1,950 for a LimX from Waterside. In-calf cow (49) averaged £1,403.88 and sold to £1,850 for a British Blue from Davidson Farms, Crichie.

Breeding bulls (3) averaged £1,566.67 and sold to 2,100gn for a Limousin from Achentoul Farms, Kinbrace. Aberdeen and Northern also sold 17 prime cattle. Prime bullocks (3) averaged 213p (-8.3p) and sold to 239p per kg for a 580kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and £1,557.75 for a 775kg Limousin from Diamonds, Deerness. Prime heifers (14) averaged 239.5p (-3.5p) and sold to 257p per kg for a 570kg Limousin from Whiteside, and £1,555.20 for a 640kg Charolais from Hillocks, Whiterashes.

STIRLING – Caledonian Marts Ltd held their annual show and sale of Scotch Mule ewe lambs.

Mule ewe lambs (2,759) averaged £122.56 (+£20.15 on the year) and sold to £210 for a pen of 26 from Gray, Rummnessie, bought by Moir Livestock, Home Farm, Cairness. Second top price of the day went to D & L Graham, Mains of Burnbank, Blairdrummond, for a pen of 28 which was chapped down at £200 to David Smith, Smith Contracts (Scot) Ltd. Mule gimmers (415) averaged £190.69 (+£49.01) and sold to £208 for a pen of 20 from Roskill Ltd, Gartenbantrick, Gartocharn for a pen of 20 at £208. Gartenbantrick had the best average of the day with 180 levelling out at £195.17. Leading averages:
