Swifts aiming high to see off rivals Broxburn

-

Jeanfield Swifts put an end to a run of defeats in the Premier Division at the weekend with a 2-1 win over Sauchie Juniors at Riverside.

And this evening Swifts have the opportunity to build on that result as they are at home once again, this time against Broxburn Athletic.

The visitors are in third place and, after a poor start of one win in four, the Albyn Park outfit have won the last five league games.

On Saturday their game at Prestonfield against Linlithgow Rose was postponed due to Covid issues in the Rose squad so they will be itching to get back into action.

Swifts are expected to have a similar squad available that was on duty at the weekend.

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts are on an impressive five-game unbeaten run but needed a late equaliser from Greig Spence to take a point against Dundonald Bluebell at the weekend.

This evening they entertain Blackburn United at Dalgety Bay Sports Centre as they look to maintain their run, and a win for the Fife side would see them jump up into fourth place above their opponents at the weekend, Bluebell.

The management team will leave their selection as late as possible, allowing players the maximum recovery time.

Saturday saw 10-man Crossgates Primrose come from behind to beat Fife rivals Hill of Beath Hawthorn at Humbug Park and a victory this evening at Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale could see Alan Campbell’s men get themselves right into the pack behind Tranent and Penicuik Athletic who are 12 points clear.

Campbell will be without Craig McGuire through suspension.

Tonight’s fixtures: Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts v Blackburn United; Jeanfield Swifts v Broxburn Athletic; Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Crossgates Primrose.
