Fifers manager Young plots Diamonds heist

-

East Fife boss Darren Young says his players have to put the disappointment of their Dumbarton defeat to bed ahead of their trip to Airdrie this afternoon.

The Fifers went down 5-0 away at the Sons last weekend but face the Diamonds this weekend and Young is keen to see his men shake off any hangover.

He said: “We just have to put last week down to having a bad day at the office.

“We spoke about it openly and honestly both after the game and at training and have put it to bed because we have to focus on what is in front of us now.

“We have had two good sessions under our belts this week and we obviously want to learn from our mistakes.

“It was really disappointing to lose five goals, especially all from set-pieces.

“They were all individual errors but everyone knows and understands what went wrong and we have worked on it this week. If you are assigned a man to mark you need to do that and unfortunately we didn’t do that, but we just need to move on and see the next few games as new opportunities to pick up more points.

“It’s the old saying in football but you never get too high and you never get too low, you just need to deal with it as it comes and hopefully we have done that this week.

“We have Airdrie on Saturday and it is one we are really looking forward to.

“They got a good win in midweek over Alloa and have picked up seven points from the last nine so we know they are a good side.

“We just want to try and kick on and try and do everything we can to get back to winning again.”

Young received a double injury boost this week as both Stewart Murdoch and Chris Higgins returned to the squad after injury, but Pat Slattery is expected to miss out with a knock.
